Two Piles Cut the Barrow Trips
Repointing all four sides of an old fieldstone foundation on a place outside Waldoboro meant keeping mortar sand within reach no matter which wall the crew was working on. Three tons of mason sand went down, and instead of one big pile blocking half the yard, the driver split it into two piles at opposite corners of the house. Nobody ever had to barrow it more than thirty feet, which mattered a lot over a two week job.
